They were the image of prim, proper and polished when they hit the red-carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party just over a week ago in their corresponding navy outfits.

But inside the bash, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes let their hair down and showed off their goofy side.

In new pictures seen on Vanityfair.com and taken inside a photo booth at the star-studded event, the duo are seen pulling animated faces and puckering up fish lips to lean in for a kiss.

Say cheese! Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes goof around in pictures taken inside a photo booth at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party

The 49-year-old Top Gun star looks adoringly at his wife of five years and puts an affectionate arm around her, while Katie pulls a very animated face.

The two snaps show a fun side of the couple, who while often affectionate, rarely ham it up for the camera.
The duo, who are both doting parents to their six-year-old daughter Suri, were clearly enjoying a night off parental duties.

Upon entering the party earlier, Katie wowed onlookers as she debuted a brand new sleek look including her polished new fringe.

The 33-year-old actress looked stylish in a navy blue Elie Saab embellished gown as she posed up with her spouse on the red carpet outside the event in West Hollywood, California.

Katie showed off her new look by wearing her hair tied back in a high ponytail, and accessorised her dress with a pretty diamond necklace and matching earrings.

Stylish pair: Tom and Katie were the epitome of prim, proper and polished when they hit the red-carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in corresponding navy outfits

The mother-of-one looked in good spirits as she posed for photographers, despite the fact it was announced earlier in the day that she had been nominated for Worst Supporting Actress at this year's Razzie Awards for her role in Adam Sandler's Jack & Jill.

Tom, meanwhile, looked smart in his navy blue suit after having presented the Best Picture award to The Artist at the Academy Awards ceremony earlier in the evening.

And Katie had obviously worked hard to look good, knowing she'd be seen by the world as she walked the carpet.

The actress was spotted on several occasions making her way to her local gym to put in extra hours toning up for her appearance.

Mission Impossible 4: It's not deep or meaningful... but the stunts are pretty awesome

Brad Bird made his name with two brilliant animated films, The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Mission Impossible 4 is his first live-action film, and it confirms that he is a first-rate director.

There are three sequences here – a break from a Russian prison, a hazardous climb up the tallest building in the world in Dubai, and a climactic fight in an automated multi-storey car park in Mumbai – that rank among the best not just of the year, but of all time.

It's not deep or meaningful: But Tom Cruise's latest movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is packed with some awesome stunts

The story, regrettably, is a routine affair that never departs from formula. Yet another madman is intent on bringing about a world war. He’s called Kurt Hendricks, and is played uninterestingly by Michael Nykvist.

Apparently, this nutter’s belief is that only when the world has succumbed to nuclear annihilation will there be lasting peace. It’s a miracle this guy can get anyone to be his homicidal henchmen.

Action packed: Cruise's hazardous climb up the tallest building in Dubai is particularly breathtaking

Hendricks blows up the Kremlin and pins the blame on America - more specifically agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team (Simon Pegg and Paula Patton).

After the death by explosion of their boss (Tom Wilkinson), Hunt and co know they are on their own as rogue agents though, as usual in this series, they never seem to suffer from any shortage of money or hi-tech gadgetry.

Major faults remain from the first three pictures. Ethan Hunt must be the blandest, most boring action hero in modern cinema.

The shape of the screenplay and cheesy attempts at flippant wisecracks are familiar from too many Bond films, and it’s curious to see a modern film still peddling a view of Russian-American relations that dates from the Cold War.

No one’s going to pretend this film is deep or meaningful but, at its best, it really is pretty awesome.
