Her frighteningly thin frame shocked the showbusiness world when she was snapped running on the beach with a blue bikini hanging from her body in 2006.

But six years on Nicole Richie has stepped out showing off her curves and her healthy bikini shape, soaking up the sun in Miami.

The Fashion Star mentor looked stunning in a plain burgundy two-piece as she strolled around the pool yesterday.

Nicole showed off her enviable figure as she enjoyed a lazy day at her South Beach hotel in Miami.

The mother-of-two had her hair styled into a top knot on her head and shielded her eyes from the sun with a pair of dark oversized shades.

As she strutted around her flat stomach and her toned thighs were clear for all to see.

Making a splash: The 30-year-old showed off her toned stomach and trim legs as she got in and out of the pool

In great shape: The mother-of-two looked great as she spent a day by the pool, enjoying a dip in the water and topping up her tan

A number of tattoos could also been seen dotted around her body.

One was peeking out from above her bikini bottoms, while a set of wings were seen in between her shoulder blades.

Another design was visible at the base of her back and her anklet design could be spied on her left leg.

Lazy day lounging around: Nicole spread herself out on a big sunbed and was seen playing on her phone

Taking a dip: As well as soaking up the sunshine the 30-year-old also was seen taking a dip in the pool

Inking: A number of tattoos could be seen on Nicole's body including one peeking out of the top of her bikini bottoms, one at the base of her back, a pair of wings in between her shoulder blades and a tattoo on her ankle

Nicole was seen making the most of a large sunbed, spreading herself out across the lounger to top up her tan.

But while she might be an enjoying a relaxing day away from home it seemed that the designer wasn't far from her work - she was seen playing with her iPhone as she topped up the tan.

Her incredible shape now is dramatically different to her appearance in 2006 - when a photo of her running down the beach showed her looking emaciated and ill.
