Christina Aguilera has The Voice... but not the look as she pulls a Britney in ill-fitting corset and fishnets combo for performance with her group

Their lives have always mirrored each other in certain ways, ever since they were Disney Mouseketeers together as children.

Some have been more favourable than others, but tonight when Christina Aguilera 'did a Britney' it wasn't a triumphant echo of her childhood nemesis.

In fact, she aped her peer - however subconsciously - by squeezing into a far too small corset accessorised with fishnets atop the obligatory Louboutin platforms.

Doing 'a Britney': Christina Aguilera made the same mistake as her childhood nemesis and donned a too tight corset/leotard on The Voice tonight

Oh dear: Aguilera's revealing outfit certainly didn't flatter her curves

Christina has been working on shaping up lately and is unarguably a fine figure of a woman.

In a fitted dress, perhaps one that went beneath the cross, she would have looked wonderful and not at all cumbersome.

As it was, her lively rendition of the rallying Fighter, was rather marred by the cartoon sight of her inelegantly tottering around on the vertiginous shoes while trussed up.

But she has a voice as voluptuous as those curves, and that alone saved the performance.

Style twins: Did Christina subconsciously copy her arch rival?

Ill-fitting: Christina's outfit was too tight and too small, it made her look cumbersome

Bringing the house down: Christina was joined by contestants on the show for the lively performance

Also, the blonde had more to contend with than a wardrobe misjudgement as tonight the show featured the first 'instant eliminations.'

She and Blake Shelton, were the judges unlucky enough to have first go at sending one of their group home at the end of tonight's show.

An additional member of each team will be voted off by the public on Tuesday.

Along with Aguilera, Blake Shelton also hit the stage and Adam Levine's band Maroon 5 debuted a new song with Wiz Khalifa, fresh from his performance with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre at Coachella.

She's just a country girl: Raelynn won the judges over with her simple charm, and made Christina want to change genres

Shock: Jordis changed tack and gave a subtle emotional performance, but Blake sent her home

Proud: The young singer said she was pleased with all she had achieved
Only Cee Lo didn't perform.

Back to the contestants and country girl RaeLynn, won over the judges with her spit and sawdust turn.

'Man, I'm gonna say, you make me want to sing country,' Christina exclaimed.

Blake added: 'This is the most proud moment I've had of any person on my team.'

Jesse Campbell then delivered a fabulous rendition of Beyoncé's Halo followed by Blake rock-lover Jordis Unga's take on Sara Evans' Stronger.

Fan favourite: There were gasps when Christina sent Jesse home, he was a popular choice to fight on

Star turn: Jermaine's version of Against All Odds by Phil Collins was Aguilera's favourite performance of the night

The sensitive performance seemed to be a new high for the contestant, who donned a ball gown instead of her usual leather.

Christina's Ashley De La Rosa seared through Jewel's Foolish Games, with all the judges concurring to commend Aguilera for keeping this talent in the show/ .

Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa's Payfone upstaged Aguilera and is destined to be a hit for the behemoth of a group and the hot talent, who is dating Kanye West's ex, Amber Rose.

Team Blake's Erin Willet performed Adele's Set Fire to the Rain as her mentor saw her as the 'only person in the competition who could really do it justice.'

In with a shot: The judges had a rare moment of agreement when they all praised Christina for keeping Ashley in the competition

Show stealing: Wiz Khalifa and Maroon 5 premiered their new single, Payfone

Lindsey Pavao, under Christina's guidance, went for Katy Perry's Part of Me.

Shelton picked Heartache Tonight by the Eagles for his team's joint performance, the simple performance was a winner and diametrically opposed to Christina's OTT debacle.

Jermaine Paul handled Phil Collins Against All Odds beautifully, and the judges were divided over how they felt classically trained Chris Mann handled Coldplay's Viva la Vida.

Joking around: Christina sent her dancers over to Blake because he often complains about the over the top production on the show

What a night: After shocking everyone with her performance, Christina surprised by sending Jesse home
His mentor, Christina, applauded him for stepping out of his comfort zone, but Adam wasn't sure how well his more voice connected to the feeling of the song.
The exits were a shock to everyone, as Aguilera chose Jesse Campell and Blake sent Jordis home, nothing is for certain in this competition.

Busty Christina Aguilera nearly spills out of her top as she sends The Voice's oldest contestant Geoff McBride,51, home over her favourite Sera Hill

For the first battle on Monday night's battle round of The Voice, Christina Aguilera chose her R&B singers Geoff McBride and Sera Hill.

In their very different styles they tackled Chain of Fools, with some help from Lionel Richie and Jewel as their respective mentors.

The resulting cacophony was more pleasing than the riotous din it threatened to be, but while the judges noted they could be a group, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Distraction: Christina Aguilera provided her own spectacle during The Voice round two battles tonight, by wearing a precariously flimsy outfit

'Being 51 years old,' Geoff said, 'I have an advantage simply because this is the stuff I grew up on.'

He even impressed Lionel as the icon punched his hands into the air when he first heard Geoff's voice. 'Boom! His delivery is unbelievable,' Lionel exclaimed.

'There's no microphone! This is not coming off of a speaker!' Lionel suggested that Geoff not wear his sunglasses on stage to make some eye contact with the audience, so Geoff wore his glasses.

Sera may not have been able to project as loudly as Geoff, but Jewel still believed in her contestant.

'At the end of the day, volume only goes so far. If you can bring more emotion and more story and more heart than Geoff is, you're going to win,' Jewel said.

Battle of the bust tape: Christina's tremulous cleavage's bid to stay under her plunging neckline was as gripping as many of the sing-offs

Tough night: There were choices to be made and wardrobe malfunctions to narrowly avoid

Want to live in the lap of luxury? Christina Aguilera releases new pictures of $13.5m Beverly Hills house up for sale

Given the property market at the moment even celebrities are finding it hard to sell their luxurious estates.

But Christina Aguilera has just released a few extra pictures in a bid to drum up interest in her $13.5m listed Beverly Hills mansion.

The singer paid $11.5m when she bought the former Osbourne family residence in 2008.

Her favourite place: Christina Aguilera will have spent a lot of time in the bedroom when she stayed at the Beverly Hills mansion she put on the market last year for $13.5m

Are you reddy? The singer's love of pinks and reds is amply displayed by the foyer's lipstick red chandelier, carpet and curtains

Aguilera's decided to wash her hands of the property last year just weeks after her divorce from Jordan Bratman, and a week after her arrest for public intoxication.

However it has yet to pay off, and has languished on the market.

The Mediterranean-style mansion is described as being decorated with an eclectic mix of Gothic, burlesque and contemporary styles.

The six bedroom and nine bathroom house is awash with pinks and reds, showing The Voice judge is clearly a fan of the style displayed in her old Moulin Rouge soundtrack hit Lady Marmalade.

The foyer features a large crystal chandelier in lipstick red.

And surprisingly for fans of the singer who have seen her in her trademark too-tight leggings, also comes complete with a gym.

But that is only one of the home's many amenities.

It also come complete with a game room, movie room, a salon area in the giant walk-in closet, and perhaps most self-indulgent of all, a gift-wrapping room.

There is also an cute children's room which she may have used to have fun with her son Max.

And there is also the obligatory star requirement of a generous pool, complete with water slide and grotto spa.

But Christina is no doubt looking for a more luxurious home, following claims that she has commanded a fee of $10million to sign on for the third season of TV talent show The Voice.

Speaking about the third series a show insider told TheWrap.com: ‘We're really pleased with the entire cast. You look at the ratings and it's no accident.’

Are you taking the Mickey? Christina Aguilera gets a blast from the past when a former 'mouseketeer' auditions for The Voice

TV talent show The Voice to kicked off its second season following the Super Bowl, which saw Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton compete as coaches to find the next biggest thing in music.

Contestants had to perform for the foursome, who were only allowed a glimpse of the artist if they buzzed to offer them a spot in their team of twelve.

And Christina received a blast from the past in the form of former Mickey Mouse Club performer Tony Lucca, 35, took to the stage, wondering if his fellow mouseketeer Christina would recognise his voice.

Surprise: Christina was bowled over when she realised one of the hopefuls used to be in the Mickey Mouse Club with her
Back in action: Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton returned as coaches on The Voice

She buzzed halfway through the performance, but did not seem to recognise Tony, and she also had to compete with the other three coaches who all wanted a slice of the aspiring star.

Perhaps failing to remember him did not work in Christina’s favour, as the singer signed up to be on Adam’s team instead.

But when he walked directly past Christina, she clocked who he was and dashed backstage to find him and say hello, meeting his wife and son who were there to show their support.

Whoops!: Christina made amends with Tony but lost out at the chance to be his coach
Christina gushed: ‘I remember Britney had the biggest crush on you. She won’t mind me saying that.’

After she left Tony to enjoy his success, the artist said: ‘I’m over the moon.’

17-year-old RaeLynn was the first to take part in the blind auditions who bravely decided to sing Miranda Lambert song Hell on Heels in the hope of impressing her husband Blake Shelton and anding a spot on his team.

Adam Levine immediately pushed the button, and was quickly followed by Blake, who sang along to the guitar-wielding teen’s performance.

Adam said: ‘The performance was amazing. You started off one way and then your voice turned into this monster country voice.’

Blake said: ‘I can’t wait for Miranda to hear your version of that song,’ and when Adam attempted to win the teen over, he pretended to cough and added: ‘I can make you a country star.’

Adam replied: ‘You’re more than that, I could tell by the beginning of the song, you were completely different, that’s why I loved it.’

Reunited: Christina quickly corrected her error and dashed off to see the singer backstage
But the blonde stuck to her guns and decided to team up with Blake as her coach.

Single father Jesse Campbell was up next, who told of how he and his daughter were homeless for a time, before he got a job singing at churches.

Cee Lo, Adam and Christina each buzzed within seconds of the contestant’s performance, with Blake following suit a moment later.
