Playing a surgeon on her hit medical show Grey’s Anatomy means Ellen Pompeo is usually seen sporting unflattering scrubs.

But today the actress stripped down to a bikini to spend a day at the beach with her daughter Stella Luna.

The 42-year-old looks fantastic for her age and showed off her enviable figure in an olive green two-piece.

The star, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on the ABC drama, was spotted making the most of sunshine in Hawaii.
It seems Ellen is enjoying a holiday since Grey’s Anatomy wrapped filming on season eight, with the dramatic finale airing in America three weeks ago.
Ellen was seen today sweeping her two-year-old into her arms and planting sweet kiss on the happy youngster’s cheek.

Stella, whose father Is Ellen’s music producer husband Chris Ivery, looked adorable in a spotty T-shirt and frilly pink swimming costume.
Ellen sported a pair of aviator sunglasses and wore her honey blonde locks in a casual bun before letting them loose once she hit the beach.

However the pair were seen enjoying a day of shopping together as they walked hand in hand late last month.
