Chris Evans has been forced to sell his unique Freddie Mercury-inspired Lotus - because he has nowhere to keep it.

The petrolhead DJ travelled to Lotus HQ in Norfolk to oversee a unique paintjob and interior for an Evora S model he bought at a charity auction last year.

But the 45-year-old forgot his garage was already jammed full of classic Ferraris and he has now realised he can’t keep the 178mph sports car.

So he has contacted a garage to sell the undriven Lotus for him, informing the dealer there was 'no more room at the inn' for his latest 'stunning' purchase.

The car-mad redhead bought the Lotus Evora S at a Mercury Phoenix Trust auction set up to raise money in former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s honour.

After paying an undisclosed figure for the car, Evans opted to have the bodywork sprayed in a colour combination to reflect the exhuberant attire worn by Freddie Mercury.

The white Lotus has red and bronze stripes running along the centre of the body with the wing mirrors matching this scheme.
