While Simon Cowell continues to try and beat The Voice in the ratings war a new battle has erupted on Britain's Got Talent.

Many viewers of the ITV1 show have been left incensed at the growing number of non-British acts that have been allowed to take part in the show.

With the name of the programme suggesting that the talent should be British, Twitter became the forum of choice for fans to vent their anger.

Hot to trot: French troupe Cascade came under fire from fans for not being British after appearing on Britain's Got Talent, tonight

On tonight's show, at least two acts that were featured were not of British origin, with the first being stunt group Cascade.

The French troupe, made up of all men, impressed the judges with their action packed routine and left Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon swooning over their toned bodies.

However, one person said on the social network site: 'once again, isnt it BRITAINS got talent??? fine if you live in London now.... but-you just got the Eurostar over. dont get it.'

French fancies: Cascade got pulses racing by flexing their muscles during an energetic and strong performance

All smiles: Chica Latina, who is originally from Columbia, also performed on tonight's show

Another viewer added: 'Don't care how hot and French they are. Its BRITAINS Got Talent. Since when has France been in Britain?'

While Cascade were universally accepted as being a talented bunch of individuals, their nationality was still deemed a problem.

'Am I the only one who's like... But they're french and this is britains got talent.. Still good though #bgt', said one user.

Later in the show a singer called Chica Latina, who is orginally from Columbia, charmed the judges with a Tina Turner rendition.

The 43-year-old, who is now based in Leamington Spa, sang with a strong accent and although she wasn't a strong performer, she still made it through to the next round.

Facing the music: Simon Cowell is already struggling to beat The Voice in the ratings battle

Dizzy heights: Hungarian basketballers Face Team have also been widely criticised for being allowed on the show

On last week's show, Hungarian basketball act FaceTeam shone, but also made viewers question why they were allowed to enter the competition.

George Lineker was one of many people who were confused by their prescence and said: 'Bunch of boys from hungary come over for britains got talent. Doesn't make much sense...'

The backlash will be one more problem for Cowell as his reality show empire continues to struggle against the BBC.

The opinions: Many people took to Twitter to vent their confusion at who can compete on Britain's Got Talent
