He may have a reputation as a Hollywood bad boy but Colin Farrell showed off his softer side yesterday.

The Irish actor brought his father Eamon along to the set of his latest movie Dead Man Down in Philadelphia.

The father and son duo were seen hanging out in between takes and Eamon looked on as his superstar son got to grips with some of the props for his new role.

Colin, 35, was seen trying out some rifles for the film, in which he plays a revenge-seeking mobster.

He also showed off some other guns as he displayed his muscular arms in a navy wife-beater top which flaunted the large tattoos on each of the actor's biceps.

Colin, who looked rugged with a smattering of facial hair, teamed the top with a pair of jeans and a wide black belt as he practised his gun-wielding in between scenes.

Meanwhile former footballer Eamon sat comfortably on a chair, dressed in a dapper grey suit and blue shirt, as he watched the action take place.
Colin then changed into a more sinister looking outfit as he got stuck into filming for the upcoming thriller.
The actor sported a black beanie hat and matching coat over his jeans as he aimed a large black rifle while stood on a rooftop.

He was later seen chatting to co-star Dominic Cooper while dressed down in a cosy grey jumper.
The film, slated for a 2013 release, sees Colin play Victor, a New York mobster who is consumed by grief after losing his family.
He decides to go on a revenge mission to take out the kingpin Alphonse Hoyt, who is played by Iron Man star Terrence Howard.

However to get to the big boss he has to kill many others along the way, and test his skills to the limit.
The movie is being directed by Niels Arden Oplev who directed the original Swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and it co-stars Noomi Rapace and.
Colin's career has been busy this year and he also stars in a reboot of Total Recall alongside leading ladies Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, which is due for release in August.
