TV return as Cheryl and Syco bury the hatchet

Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell have put last year’s X Factor USA feud behind them and are preparing to work together on a new TV series.

The show will be a talent-scouting programme with a very different format from Cowell’s other series, Britain’s Got Talent.

It will be created by the tycoon’s production company Syco, and is likely to be screened in the autumn.

TV comeback: Cheryl Cole
The development marks an end to the frosty relations between the pair after Cowell dramatically dropped the singer, right, as a judge from the American version of X Factor last September.

They had previously enjoyed a successful TV partnership over three series of The X Factor in Britain. After being axed, Cheryl turned down Cowell’s peace offering – a role as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

A source says: ‘Cheryl’s finally stepped back into the fold. All’s well between them again. Despite what happened last year, she’s agreed to do something with Simon.’

It also appears recent reports that Cheryl, 28, is to become a chat show presenter on Channel 4 are wide of the mark. The source adds: ‘Cheryl doesn’t want to be a judge and she doesn’t want to delve into people’s private lives on a chat show.’

After focusing on his American interests in 2011, Cowell, 52, said recently: ‘I miss Britain. I miss the British public.’

The source said: ‘Until Simon returns from his break in the Caribbean, he and Cheryl can’t fine-tune any plans, but he’s set aside time next month to do so. The main thing is he’s convinced Cheryl is immensely valuable. The audience warms to her, and that’s worth money to Simon.’

Friends believe that Cowell will do all he can to charm Cheryl and ensure she’s happy. The insider says: ‘Now that Cheryl’s stopped ignoring him, he’ll bend over backwards when they meet. She’ll very much be part of the decision-making process.’

High rise: Prince Charles
The Prince of Wales has dramatically raised the cost of visiting his gardens at Highgrove this year.

The price of an adult ticket will soar by almost four times the rate of inflation, from £16 to £19.50. And a group tour for up to 26 guests will cost £507, up from £390 in 2011.

Each year, 30,000 people successfully apply to visit the Gloucestershire gardens, which are open from April to October. Three years ago, such tours were free.

A Clarence House spokesman says: ‘It is important to stress that all the money made goes to the Prince’s Charitable Foundation.’
