After a difficult year, Maria Shriver appears to be settling into her new life as a single mother.

The 56-year-old, split from disgraced politician and Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger last May.

She looked happy and relaxed yesterday as she enjoyed lunch with two of her children and their friends in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles.

Wearing a sleeveless black, white and green cotton dress, Maria smiled when she walked out of Votre Sante restaurant with son Christopher, 14, daughter Christina, 20, and three other children.
It was recently revealed that the former television news presenter has been in discussions Oprah Winfrey about a possible return to television.
According to media reports, the mother-of-four is considering doing a news/special interest driven show on Oprah's struggling TV channel, OWN.

A return to television would be a welcome distraction for Maria, who is in the middle of divorcing Schwarzenegger after 25 years of marriage.
The body builder, actor and politician married the niece of President John F. Kennedy in 1986.
But they split 12 months ago when Maria learned Arnold had fathered a son fourteen years earlier with the couple’s housekeeper.
Over the past few months, there had been rumours Maria was ready to forgive Arnold and take him back.
But now the two appear to be going their separate ways.
According to U.S. reports, Arnold and Maria did not enter into a prenuptial agreement a the time of the marriage.
Under California law, without a prenup, both parties are entitled to a 50/50 split of all earnings and property accumulated during their 25-year marriage.
The pair are estimated to be worth around $400 million.
