The UK’s Sexiest Woman Helen Flanagan took to Twitter on Sunday to defend a blunder she made regarding sex predator Stuart Hall.
In a string of tweets the 23-year-old attempted to justify her comments saying she was upset due to her former co-star Bill Roache’s recent arrest.
The former Coronation Street initially said in an interview last week that she believed the veteran broadcaster deserved respect.
Back track: Helen Flanagan has defended comments she made about Stuart Hall last week
According to The Sun she said: ‘I just think, that’s an 83-year-old man, you could give him a heart attack. Have some respect.’
Defending her comment, she took to Twitter writing: ‘With regards to the story in the sun. I was having interviews all Thursday an interview finished with a lady from the sun and I made a passing comment basically about all these older men been arrested for such terrible crimes.
‘I don't know anything about the Stuart hall case things like that I find too horrendous to read To be honest I was thinking about bill roache who has recently been arrested.
Respect: Helen claimed that Stuart Hall deserved respect because he is an old man
‘It upset me as I could never believe this to be true he's 83 years old must be traumatic for him someone I've always had respect for and I believe him to be innocent.
‘I just wanted to explain because this constant abuse is upsetting x’
It is assumed Helen is refereeing to Bill and not Stuart when discussing their innocence.
Upset: Helen says she made the comment because she was upset about Bill Roache
Helen starred with Bill for many years in Coronation Street and is referring to the fact he has been charged with raping a 15-year-old school girl in 1967.
The actor, who is 81 and not 83 as Helen wrote, said he was 'astounded and deeply horrified' at being charged with twice raping a schoolgirl more than 45 years ago.
The actor has been suspended from the ITV soap while his trial is ongoing, and producers have been rushing to write out his character Ken Barlow, who has been in the show since it started in 1960.
Tasteless: Helen Flanagan caused a backlash last year after posting this 'insensitive' photo of herself holding a gun to her head on the same day the first victims of the Sandy Hook massacre were laid to rest
BBC's Hall admitted last week to being a serial sex offender and could now be looking at a life behind bars for his actions.
This latest blunder is the most recent in a long list from Helen, which she usually makes via Twitter.
Following the Sandy Hook massacre last year she shared a picture of herself with gun against her head.
And just last month she said she ‘liked’ pictures of emaciated girls, claiming she was using them for diet inspiration.
