Emma Stone appeared to be in the mood to paint the town red when she showed up at the Calvin Klein show at New York fashion week.

And Emma wasn't the only Hollywood starlet gracing the front row to show her support for the American designer.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara also rocked up at the fashion event, and just like Emma, the 26-year-old wore an outfit that coordinated perfectly with her hair colour.

The actress matched her jet-black locks with a fitted dress and chunky platform sandals to boot.

The pair both cast a critical eye over the collection as they intently watched the models sashay down the catwalk.

And they appeared to like what they saw as the girls then took the time to congratulate the label's creative director Francisco Costa backstage after the show had wrapped.

Emma was also seen catching up with US Vogue editor Anna Wintour as they dissected the show once it had come to a close.

The clean, architectural and unadorned style that Costa has crafted as his Calvin Klein signature seemed a perfect fit for the two starlets he had chosen to invite to the coveted front row seats.

Costa purposely created a looser hourglass shape for his collection, showing off clothes that give room to move and breathe, sculpting stiff wool fabrics into outfits with rounded jewel necklines and a little extra fabric at the hips.

Speaking backstage after the show, he described his Autumn 2012 collection as 'mysterious, sexy and super urban.'

He added: 'The iconography for this is all super modern.'

White hot: Lara Stone sizzled in a simple satin shift and an elegant ponytail

Model Lara Stone was also sat front row to show her support for the label, looking white hot in a simple shift dress, which she teamed with an elegant slicked back ponytail.

Emma had been seen on her way to the show wearing a long grey coat over her scarlet outfit and carrying a silver clutch bag.

The ingenue dyed her naturally blonde hair red because she claims it makes people find her funnier than as a fair-haired beauty.

She is busy promoting her upcoming summertime blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man - which hits US theatres on July 2nd.

She plays Peter Parker's true love Gwen Stacy in the film.

Emma is Gwen Stacy to Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker, and the pair quickly developed an off-screen romance too.
