Rihanna shows off new Rod Stewart-inspired BLEACHED hairstyle with a pair of thigh-high boots

We've seen her with had curly,straight, short, long, bright red, brown, black and multi-coloured hair.

But chameleon Rihanna's new do is still a shocking change.

Clearly keen to go to extremes to get into character, the 23-year-old popstar bleached her frizzy brown hair blonde for a photoshoot with ELLE magazine, her first cover shoot of the year.

The popstar took her new barnet - which looked as though it had been inspired by rocker Rod Stewart's trademark blonde mullet - to the Roxbury club in Hollywood last night.

She paired the shaggy do - which features a thick fringe and layers - with a shocking striped orange jumper, Daisy Dukes and thigh-high black boots.

Holding hands with one of her friends, she added a pair of black Ray Ban sunglasses to the ensemble, despite stepping out at night.

Earlier, she at the Staples Centre last night where she watched the Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 112-91.

She sat in the front row with TopShop boss Philip Green's daughter Chloe and later re-tweeted a picture taken with fans where she is seen hugging the two men.

One of them wrote: 'Met you at the clipper game tonight thank you for the pic tht was rly nice Take care have a grt night.'

She also shared pictures of her barnet with her 12 million Twitter followers, saying: '#Back2Work 1st Cover of the year!!!!'

In one photo, she can be seen staring sultrily into the camera, with her bare shoulders only in view, creating the illusion she is not wearing clothing.

The star wears an array of gold jewellery and dark red lipstick.

Fans asked Rihanna she was wearing a wig and she said she had bleached it and used a weave to create the look for the shoot.

In another photo the star posted, she can be seen sporting massive thigh-high black boots, tiny Daisy Dukes and a white off-the-shoulder jumper - no doubt attire for the shoot.

She joked that the boots were 'stripperish too'.

With the constant dying and primping, it's a wonder Rihanna's hair hasn't started falling out.
She has most recently been seen with a brown curly afro style.
